2021 revealed many things – most notably, our team’s resilience in the face of uncertainty and clients who are committed to trusting us as their local builder.
Who else entered 2021 hoping that all the challenges of 2020 were long behind us? As COVID-19 lingered into another year, the pandemic’s effects continued to impact our supply chains, trades and site access; our display homes and sale teams. And these added pressures put unexpected stress on our valued clients. To these clients, we want to say a heartfelt thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
It has been six months since I joined Hamlan as general manager and all the things that drew me to this business – a company committed to building high-quality, architecturally designed homes with excellent customer service – remained the top priority for our team no matter what we faced.
Pandemic aside, 2021 has been an extremely busy year. We have been fortunate to reap the benefits of the Geelong region’s property boom – building many dream homes for our clients.
Our Frank Street Development won a 2021 Master Builders Victoria South West Regional Building Awards accolade for Best Multi Unit Development – 4 to 12 units.
The winning work is a cohesive collection of six unique residences designed for the evolving lifestyles of modern Newtown, Geelong. It was an excellent example of how a new development using clever architecture and expert craftsmanship can elevate and enhance an already established area, such as the tree-lined streetscape of Frank Street. It was great to receive this acknowledgement from the Master Builders and has given us the encouragement to know what we’re doing is as special as we believe it is.
On the flip side, another award-winning project, our Sabine 344 display in Gen Fyansford was closed to make way for a new display, currently under construction and set to open in Autumn 2022. This new display is one of our most impressive builds – it will be our Cumberland 266 design showcasing many energy efficiency features that have never before been seen in our homes. It will also include a brand-new facade. This is definitely one project to watch.
We also opened our Johanna 274 display in Armstrong Mount Duneed. Our Johanna 274 is our newest floorplan and features our signature central courtyard, which creates a home that is well connected to the outdoors. This display was a chance to showcase another new facade – the Echo – a double-gable design.
This year we’ve also spent a lot of time looking at our current Aspect Range designs, making tweaks to create the most functional homes possible. All of this work on both floor plans and facades will be revealed in the new year.
As 2021 comes to a close, we’re excited about what lies ahead for Hamlan and we’re so pleased that you’ll be joining us on the ride.
To all of you, on behalf of the team at Hamlan I would like to wish you all a safe and joyful festive season and I look forward to seeing what 2022 has to bring!
Jason Draper, General Manager, Hamlan Group
