For Andrew and Jen, building a home isn’t just about creating a place to live—it’s become a passion project.
Over the years, Andrew and Jen have built three homes of their own—and supported two of their children to build as well—bringing their total builds with Hamlan and Geelong Homes to five (and counting!).
“We just love the whole process,” says Jen. “Choosing the floorplan, planning the landscaping, seeing it all come together—it’s become a bit of a hobby for us.”
Their building journey has not only shaped their own lifestyle but also left a lasting impact on the regional town of Gordon, where their love of design, detail, and landscaping has brought a touch of thoughtful living to every block they’ve developed.
A Homestead Start
Their journey began with Geelong Homes’ popular Hamilton 320—a spacious homestead-style home perfect for their first acreage block. With the rise of remote working during the pandemic, they decided to sell, knowing the appeal of a lifestyle property would speak to many looking to make a tree change.
A New Chapter with Hamlan
Next came Hamlan’s Gellibrand 287, a courtyard-style design that’s ideal for acreage living. This home gave Andrew the opportunity to really lean into his landscaping skills, creating outdoor spaces that complemented the design and elevated the lifestyle.
“Andrew puts in a huge amount of time and effort into the beautiful landscaping—it’s his pride and joy,” says Jen.

Inside, their love of contrast and character shines through. With dark cabinetry, polished concrete floors, and brass accents, the home balances bold design choices with practical elegance.
Building to the Land
Their most recent home—a stunning Sheoak 294 LS with the Prism façade—sits on a sloping block that overlooks a picturesque lake. The split-level design works perfectly with the natural fall of the land, positioning the main bedroom at the front and placing the kitchen, dining, and living area upstairs to take in those breathtaking views.

To make the most of their unique site, Andrew and Jen made thoughtful tweaks to the floorplan, including adding picture windows to capture glimpses of neighbouring truffle trees.
“I’ve really enjoyed the chance to try something different with the colours this time,” Jen says. “We’ve gone for a soft, warm palette with white cladding and timber tones, and it flows beautifully inside the home too.”
A standout feature of the home is their stunning Quantum Zero – Angelico Palazzo stone benchtop, which brings texture and luxury to the heart of the home.

Not Ready to Stop
When asked whether this latest build is their last, Andrew and Jen share a smile.
“We probably have one or two more in us,” says Andrew. “There’s a block we’ve already got our eye on—it has a dam the family love swimming in, and we’ve always thought it would make the perfect site for our forever home.”
With their eye for detail, love of the process, and the support of the Hamlan team behind them, there’s no doubt Andrew and Jen’s building journey is far from over.
