The Hamlan group has taken out four awards at the recent 2022 South West Master Builders Victoria Regional Building Awards — including the top award as South West Residential Regional Builder of the Year.
Hamlan won the award night’s highest residential accolade for a striking custom build in Torquay, as well as the award for Best Custom Home $800,000-$1M. Geelong Homes, which also falls under the Hamlan Group banner, won two awards – Best Display Home $250,000-$350,000 for its Flinders 235 display at Armstrong, Mount Duneed and Best Display Home $350,000-$500,000 for its Thornhill 212 display at Anchoridge Estate, Armstrong Creek.
Hamlan Group General Manager Jason Draper said the wins were a reflection of the resilience that the Hamlan and Geelong Homes teams had shown over the last three challenging years.
“Like everyone in our industry our team has faced many challenges over the past three years, but despite those challenges they have continued to maintain the same high-quality builds we are known for,” he said. “These awards are recognition of our team’s determination and commitment to building beautiful homes.”
The top award-winning custom home in Torquay was a build of grand proportions – the clients came to Hamlan with a set of architectural plans for the modern home that was designed to suit their lifestyle right down to the finest of details.
“The result is a striking modern home that overlooks the Torquay Sands golf course,” said Master Builders Victoria CEO Rebecca Casson at the time of the announcement.
“This is their dream home where they can enjoy the lifestyle they have always wanted for their young family.”
Geelong Homes won Best Display Home $250,000-$350,000 for its stunning Flinders 235 display at Armstrong, Mount Duneed. This display which features the popular Bungalow facade, is a modern coastal home that features natural tones and textures. The display home is flooded with plenty of natural light – which creates a beautiful sense of calm and comfort. It has three distinct zones, at the front of the home is the parents’ retreat, to the back is the kids’ wing and at the heart of the home is the open plan kitchen/living area.
Geelong Homes also took out the Best Display Home $350,000-$500,000 for its Thornhill 212 display at Anchoridge Estate, Armstrong Creek. The Thornhill 212 is one of Geelong Homes’ most popular floorplans—it offers a functional, zoned layout that lends itself well to a busy family. Featuring an ultra-modern interior treatment, this home is sleek and sophisticated.
“Our Geelong Homes displays are a great demonstration of what clients can come to expect from us,” Jason said. “We only put high-quality products in our homes – we’re proud to offer local people an affordable home that they can enjoy for many years to come.
“We take pride in every one of our builds – you get the same quality craftsmanship in one of our Geelong Homes builds as you would in one of our Hamlan Homes builds.”
In 2023, Hamlan will mark 40 years of building local homes for local people. Hamlan’s origins lie in Anglesea, where it began rebuilding cedar-clad homes after the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires. Today, Hamlan continues to be a family operated builder and has developed a reputation as the region’s preeminent builder with a particular niche for designing architectural coastal homes, split-level homes and custom builds, while also building everything in between.
