After a pre-Christmas SOS from Wye River Surf Life Saving Club, Hamlan has now pledged a two-year agreement supporting the club.

Preparations for the 2016/17 season were under a cloud when an established sponsor withdrew their support for the club. ‘Losing a major sponsor on the eve of the summer season was a real setback,’ club Vice President Martin McIntosh said, ‘but we were very pleased when Hamlan answered the call.’

Of course, Hamlan  is no stranger to supporting local communities in the wake of disaster having commenced rebuilding homes in Anglesea after the 1983 Ash Wednesday bush fires. More than three decades on they continue to support the local regions growth through partnerships with local charities including G21 and the Committee for Geelong. They can now add the Wye River Surf Life Saving Club to the list of local partners.

General Manager, Andrew Carroll underlined the company’s commitment to the small Great Ocean Rd community. “When I heard that the Wye River Surf Lifesaving Club had lost their major sponsor, I reached out to the club to see how Hamlan could help.  I know that Surf Life Saving Clubs play a big role in coastal communities and after the devastating Wye River bush fires we wanted to make sure that this club was still viable.”

The new sponsorship deal, secured for two years, allowed for routine operations to continue this season ensuring that the beach was kept safe and that the club could concentrate on developing the next generation of life savers through its Nipper program, bronze medallion and Surf Rescue Certificate camps.

Mr McIntosh noted the benefit of the three year deal, ‘this partnership will provide for planning certainty and will contribute greatly to beach safety and essential upgrades to lifesaving equipment into the future.’
